Dreamland Encyclopedia
Ever wondered about specific terms in Dreamland?
Age - Dead Ones don't age in Dreamland.
Crossing - When a Dead One leaves Dreamland forever and crosses to the "other side". It's like a Dead One dying in Dreamland. To "cross somebody" means to kill somebody.
Districts - There is probably an endless amount of districts in Dreamland. A district is simply an area that differs from the rest. Districs may have Rulers or be completely wild. What a district looks like and how it works depends on its citizens.
Dreamland - No body knows how big Dreamland is. It is a place that was created from people's dreams.
Dreamlanders - There are three types of
people in Dreamland:
Dead Ones - The ones that appear the most in DiD. People that have died in their
sleep and stayed in Dreamland.
Dreamers - People that are asleep and dreaming in Dreamland.
Creatures - Beings created in Dreamland. These don't have the same morals and
values as humans and are therefor considered lower. In the district which Molly
lives in, it is for example not punishable to murder a Creature
Dream Powers - You've probably noticed that sometimes when you dream you have the ability to fly, have super human strength, etc. Dreamers have a hard time controlling their Dream Powers. As the Lord says, these powers appear from the desire you had in your life. This desire is in turn expressed as Dream Powers. Sounds corny, but nothing strange really if you think about it. Molly doesn't have them because she doesn't remember how she died.
Lying - The Dead can't lie. If they try hard, they can pretend. For instance, Molly has to pretend that she's Alice in Ep 6; Molly in Wonderland, but she avoids lying. Dead cannot lie straight to your face. They can only hold back the truth. Why? I figured once you're dead, what's the point of lying anyway?
Planes - There is the Astral Plane, which is the same as Dreamland. And there is the Conscious Plane, which is the same as being awake. In real dream theory, there are more planes, but I'm not gonna bring them up here.
Rules - Besides for basic things like lying and crossing, Dreamland has no rules. Unless you make them. Molly's district has some pretty straight rules that invilve things like not leaving the district without permission from Authorities.
Sandman - The Lord has the role of the Sandman. He was asked to take this job in a century of electricity, television and computers, where people were bound to suffer from insomnia. At times, the Lord helps people fall asleep.
Scrap - A "Dreamland videocard" as Molly puts it. A small glass like surface used by Dreamlanders instead of photos and videos. Can display both still and moving pictures. An empty scrap can record. Pretty much like a camera/videocamera.
